AIB Leinster Intermediate Football Championship - Round 1
Caragh 0-11 Meath Hill 0-6
An inspirational point by Caragh centre half back and county player, Ryan Burke, in the 48th minute, was the catalyst for the Kildare Intermediate champions to fire over a further four points without reply to advance to Round 2 of the AIB Leinster IFC at the expense of first time Meath champions, Meath Hill at a damp Manguard Park on Saturday.
Cormac Sheehy had just brought the sides level for the third time in the game at 0-6 apiece when Burke delivered from distance. Darragh Swords brought his tally for the day to three late points while Josh Gannon and Ronan Doorey completed the scoring for the Prosperous side.
Cormac Sheehy and Gary Breslin were the only scorers for the Meath men on the day, who although, they opened the scoring in the 4th minute, they trailed 0-5 to 0-4 at the break. Once Josh Gannon put Caragh in front with a superb strike in the 19th minute, they were never headed although they suffered the loss of midfielder, Dan Lynam, six minutes earlier. They now move on to meet the Kilkenny champions, Dicksboro, in Round 2 in Freshford on Saturday next.
