Clinical finishing the difference against Rovers
Ethan Deegan and Jaydon Parson on the attack for Klub Kildare
On what turned out to be a lovely afternoon Klub Kildare tasted defeat at the hands of Shamrock Rovers in Roadstone Academy on Sunday afternoon.
The facilities were magnificent on the luscious green grass with the sun shining brightly, however the curling cross wind make control very difficult and both teams struggled on the day.
Shamrock Rovers were the better team but had Klub Kildare had Ciaran Daly in their ranks it would have been a completely different story.
Ireland’s record scorer Robbie Keane was among those watching on from the sidelines and Daly gave an exhibition of which Keane would have been proud of as he showed a striker’s instincts to be in the right place at the right time.
As early as the fourteenth minute Daly struck as Corey Fay showed his explosive speed and raced past the full back to pull the ball back for the inrushing Daly to crack home.
Daly added a second with three minutes of the half remaining as this time it was Jayden Marshall who got in behind the defence to pull the ball back once again where Daly met it superbly to flash home.
Klub Kildare had a monumental task for the second half and it was made more difficult when Daly got his hat trick on the hour.
Archie Quinn added a fourth from the penalty spot in the seventy third minute to end the scoring.
Manager Mark Perth was disappointed after the game.
“Yes on the day they were the better team, however conditions out there made controlling the ball very difficult but they just managed to deal with it better than we did,” he said following the game.
Next week is a weekend off and then Klub Kildare are home to Waterford.
