Fleming nominated for FAI Schools’ International Footballer of the Year award
Daisy Fleming has been nominated for the Under 15 Girls Schools’ International Footballer of the Year
Kildare's Daisy Fleming is one of three players who have been nominated for the Under 15 Girls Schools’ International Footballer of the Year.
Fleming, who attends the Holy Family Secondary School in Newbridge, was instrumental in the Republic of Ireland capturing the Bob Docherty Cup this season with her extraordinary defensive capabilities for Richie Berkeley’s team. She was one of a handful of players to retain her starting position in the double header against Northern Ireland. She skippered the side in the home fixture against the North scoring late on and picking up the Player of the Match accolade for her hardworking endeavours. Fleming has firmly put Holy Family Secondary School on the map following her excellent performances in the green jersey. Daisy has been capped at Under 16 level also.
She is nominated along with Maia Stokes from Tipperary and Maisy Healy of Dublin.
Daisy is the first Kildare player to be nominated for the award since Lucy O'Rourke, from St Mary's College in Naas, in 2022.
The winners will be announced at the 36th FAI International Football Award in September.
