The case was adjourned at Portlaoise District Court

WHILE gardaí were on mobile patrol, they came across an intoxicated woman staggering along the road, pulling a wheelie bin with a TV on top of it.

According to gardaí, the encounter happened on the Mountrath Road in Portlaoise on 2 August 2025.

As a result of the incident, Rebecca Murray from College View, Mountmellick appeared at Portlaoise District Court this week.

She is charged with being intoxicated in a public place, possessing cocaine valued at €40 for her own use and obstructing gardaí in the execution of their duties on 2 August.

The public order charges were briefly outlined at the initial court hearing on 1 September. 

Judge Susan Fay remanded Ms Murray on her own bail to the 6 October sitting of the court.
