Johnstownbridge set up quarter-final date with Sarsfields

Daniel Flynn scored the Johnstownbridge goal as they beat Eadestown today
Despite only registering two frees from Paul Cribbin in the second half, Johnstownbridge were still too good for Eadestown as they set up a quarter-final against Sarsfields next Sunday.
Aidan Dunne’s team flew out of the traps and had three points on the board before Dean Kelly batted down a long, diagonal ball into the path of Daniel Flynn and he beat Shane Sargent with a smart finish.
The departure of Sam Doran through injury shortly after through injury certainly impacted Johnstownbridge but Aaron McNally’s second point of the game made it 1-4 to 0-0 in the 14th minute.
It took until the 17th minute for Eadestown to open their account through a two point free from Niall Cummins and Sean Hynes added a point in the 24th minute.
Johnstownbridge finished the half well with three points on the bounce through Josh O’Donoghue (2) and Daniel Flynn.
Cribbin made it 1-8 to 0-3 early in the second half. At that stage Johnstownbridge were comfortable but Eadestown, whose manager Emmet Bolton showed his displeasure with their first half display with a triple half time substitution, at last showed there was a kick in them.
Eoin Conneff scored from play and that was followed by two pointers by Cummins, from a free, and an excellent effort from play by Cian Boran.
All of a sudden there was just three points between the teams with still 13 minutes to play but Eadestown weren’t able to find another score after that as Johnstownbridge locked the game down.
A 56th minute free by Cribbin wrapped up the win as Johnstownbridge secured a quarter-final place for the eighth time in the last nine years.
