CURRAGH trainer Ross O’Sullivan continues to enjoy his week out west after a win for Donnie Devito on Thursday afternoon continued his 100% strike rate at this year’s Galway Festival.

Under Eadestown jockey, Tom Harney, Donnie Devito led for a large part of the Guinness Novice Hurdle and finished out his race well to hold off Paul Townend on Ninth Titan, who was finishing strongly along the rail.

That made it three wins from three runners in Ballybrit this week for O’Sullivan after he enjoyed an 87/1 double on Wednesday with jockey Darragh O’Keeffe thanks to wins for Talk In The Park and Champella.

O’Sullivan has one runner in Galway today with Volantis in the Guinness Galway Tribes Handicap Hurdle at 5pm.

Also in the winners enclosure in Galway yesterday was Jessica Harrington, who took the opening race, the Grade 3 Guinness Open Gate Brewery Novice Chase, after jockey Jack Kennedy led Ashdale Bob home to victory.

Harrington completed a double later in the day when 12/1 shot Raknah took the Arthur Guinness Irish EBF Corrib Fillies Stakes under Kildare jockey Gary Carroll. Carroll was also completing a double for himself having win the previous race for Tipperary trainer Joseph Muphy with Grey Leader.

Harrington has five runners in Galway today, the pick of which could be Shane Foley’s mount in the 6.35pm, Going Remote.

There was a big shock in the final race of the day on Thursday evening when Áine O’Connor, wife of Kilcullen jockey Niall ‘Slippers’ Madden, had a massive 200/1 winner on Brave Crogha.
