Kildare man charged with breaking into woman’s car at hotel

A MAN, who is in custody on “a large number of matters”, appeared in Naas District Court on two separate charges of theft, involving breaking into a woman’s car and stealing her phone.
Peter Sheridan, (41) with an address between Palmview, blackwood, Robertstown, Kildare and The Elms, Rathvoy Park, Naas appeared in court on a series of matters including unauthorised interference with MPV, possession of stolen property and theft.
Sgt Mary Meade told the court that on 17 April, Mr Sheridan allegedly broke into a woman’s car parked at the Osprey Hotel, Naas, and stole her phone from inside.
The woman, who was attending a meeting at the hotel, left her phone behind in the car. She later came back to find that her car had been broken into with no sign of her phone.
The alleged offence was captured on CCTV cameras at the hotel.
Mr Sheridan was also seen before the court on another separate charge of theft occurring on 1 May. It is alleged that the defendant stole a credit card, making two separate payments totaling €80.
Mr Sheridan, who is currently in custody relating to other charges, will next appear by video link on 14 August.
