AOIFE Kane was presented with a memorial scholarship award by DCU enabling a unique educational opportunity in the US.

The presentation came at a ceremony to celebrate memorial and endowed scholarships. Aoife, from Caragh, was one of 51 students who received awards named in honour of individuals and organisations who have played a leading role in the life of Dublin City University and in wider Irish society.

The former student of Piper’s Hill College recently graduated from Dublin City University with an MA in Journalism, was presented with the Veronica Guerin Washington Memorial Scholarship.

The scholarship was established by DCU’s School of Communications and Mediahuis Ireland (formerly Independent News & Media) in memory of investigative journalist Veronica Guerin. The scholarship allows two DCU journalism students to complete their work experience placements in the United States with the Washington Bureau of Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism.
