Klub Kildare continued their recent improvement with an impressive 5-1 victory over Drogheda United, producing a confident display that combined attacking quality with long spells of control.

While the hosts were largely dominant throughout, there was a brief period of uncertainty after Drogheda reduced the deficit to a single goal in the second half. However, Kildare responded strongly, scoring three times in the closing stages to turn a competitive contest into a convincing win.

The opening goal arrived after 17 minutes. Kildare worked the ball well down the wing before delivering a dangerous cross into the penalty area, where Ava Buckley arrived to fire high to the net.

Buckley struck again five minutes later as sustained pressure yielded a second goal. When the ball broke kindly inside the box, she reacted quickest to finish decisively and double her side's advantage.

Kildare controlled possession for much of the remainder of the first half, moving the ball confidently and restricting Drogheda to limited opportunities.

The visitors found a route back into the game in the 57th minute. A long ball forward caused hesitation in the Kildare defence and Sophie O'Boyle seized upon the opportunity, finishing well to make it 2-1.

Any concerns of a comeback were eased in the closing stages as Kildare regained control.

In the 82nd minute, Annabella Carty released Teagan Lynch with an accurate pass from a wide position. Lynch drove forward before unleashing a superb strike from distance that curled into the far corner.

Four minutes later, Isabella Foley effectively put the result beyond doubt. Racing onto a through ball, she held off her marker before calmly finishing past the advancing goalkeeper.

Kildare completed the scoring in stoppage time. A corner caused problems in the Drogheda penalty area and, after the ball broke loose, Elaine Irhue reacted quickest to turn it home from close range.

It was a performance full of energy, confidence and attacking intent from Klub Kildare, who continue to build momentum as the season progresses.
