The male driver of the only car involved in the incident was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The incident involved the death of a 75-year-old man.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene shortly before 7am. 

He was rushed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was treated for serious injuries.

The teen has been named locally as Aidan Forristal, who was a native of the north Kerry parish of Lisnax.

Ula Grigaityte, a senior infant pupil at Scoil Róis Primary School in Salthill, was killed after being hit by a lorry at the junction of Headford Road and Sandyvale Lawn.

The incident happened shortly before 12pm, when gardaí and Emergency Services responded to an incident in a supermarket car park in Westport.
