A MAN allegedly discovered with almost half a kilo of cocaine was sent for trial to the present sittings of Naas Circuit Court following a brief hearing in Athy District Court on 14 October.

Sergeant Dave Harahan explained how gardaí on patrol in Athy on 4 November 2023 stopped a vehicle on Woodstock Street and allegedly discovered the drugs which is estimated to have a street value of €34,000 (425g).

The driver of the car, Jake Cullen (29) of Woodstock Way in the town, made a brief appearance with his solicitor Tim Kennelly for the formal transfer of his book of evidence.
