Naas school plan meets small set back

The site of the proposed Special Education Needs school will be at Naas Community College
A PLAN by a Naas campus to retain a prefab and renovate the rest of the location to develop a special education needs school (SEN) has less than four weeks to submitted the requested information, otherwise the existing permission will expire.
The planners have given just one reason for the invalidation on their comprehensive checklist, the newspaper in which the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board
(KWETB) published its statutory public notice – The Irish Sun – is not on the council’s approved list of newspapers from such a notice.
The location is at Naas Community College on the Craddockstown Education Campus on the southern edge of the county town, and they applied only last week for the retention – as the original 2019 permit was expiring.
The board also sought to make a “minor upgrade” of the property to include PV panels, new doors and windows, a sensory garden and soft play area in order to operate the facility as a SEN school.
However, the application from the KWETB was deemed ‘incomplete’, with the planners giving the Board until 4 September to complete said application.
It was a curious oversight as Kildare County Council has the approved list on its website, which includes all three Kildare papers – The Nationalist, Leader and Champion.
At national daily level The Times, Indo, Examiner, and Star are approved, as are the SBP, The Sindo, and the Sunday Times for weekend publications.
It is anticipated this will be an easy fix for the KWETB.
