Aldridge Cup tie abandoned after serious injury

Kildare GAA

The Aldridge Cup tie in Moorefield this afternoon between hosts Moorefield and Maynooth was abandoned in the 45th minute to a serious leg injury suffered by a player on the visiting team.

An ambulance was called immediately following the accidental collision that caused the injury and it reached the venue in little over 20 minutes and the stricken player was tended to.

Before the ambulance had arrived referee Alan Archbold, in consultation with respective managers Frank Hanniffy and Declan McCabe, made the decision to blow the final whistle with the score at 2-12 to 1-6 in favour of the away team.

We wish the injured player the very best wishes in his recovery.
