Bollards to erected in Naas town centre
Gort na Greine
THE installation of bollards is on the way for a footpath in a central part of Naas.
The development comes after a local councillor raised safety concerns regarding motorists parking on the footpath on the Dublin Road at the corner with Gleann na Gréine adjacent to Tuckmill Crafts.
At the most recent meeting of Naas Municipal District, cllr Anne Breen brought forward a motion requesting “that the council installs bollards on the footpath on the Dublin Road at the corner with Gleann Na Gréine adjacent to Tuckmill Crafts to prevent motorists parking on the footpath and forcing pedestrians on to the road, in the interests of public safety.”
A report issued by Mark McLoughlin, senior executive officer in the transport, mobility and open spaces section at KCC, in response to Cllr Breen’s motion, said: “The Naas Municipal District will include the installation of bollards on the footpath at the corner of Dublin Road and Gleann Na Gréine, adjacent to Tuckmill Crafts, in the 2026 footpath works programme.”
Cllr Breen stated that she was happy with the report and noted that “there is a danger there”.
A representative from the council said that they will work to ensure that buses are still able to turn around at the location after the installation of bollards.
