Boyfriend spat in woman's face, Kildare court hears

Naas Courthouse
A WOMAN came to Naas District Court seeking a protection order against her boyfriend who attacked her in front of her friend and both of their children.
It was said in court that the woman’s boyfriend showed up to her house on 23 August last uninvited and shouted at the children and took her phone before grabbing and twisting her arm and punching the car door – doing damage to the car door.
He then spat in both the woman and her friend’s face, grabbed the woman’s neck and held her in the air. It was also alleged that he attempted to break her fingers.
“I fear what he will do next,” said the woman. “I need to protect myself and my children.”
Judge Miriam Walsh decided to accept the woman’s protection order application, adding that there is to be no contact from him in any form.
The man, who has no legal connection to the woman, her children or her property is prohibited from communicating with the woman and cannot come to her place of residence or use and threaten to use violence against her.
