Championship Podium finish for Ciara Cahoon

Tullow’s Ciara Cahoon brought the Superbike season to a successful conclusion last week at Aintree Motorcycle Racing Club in Liverpool, England; a track that has been incredibly kind to the Calow rider in 2026.

The teenage sensation overcame a demanding start to the weekend to rise up the ranks before securing an overall third place in the Supersport 600 Championship.

Following a boat trip, an overnight drive and very little sleep, Cahoon and her team arrived at the circuit at 4am before beginning preparations for the day's racing. She delivered an impressive performance in qualifying, securing fifth place on the grid with a best lap time of 1:00.93.

Ciara produced two composed and consistent rides, maintaining fifth position throughout both races, consistently lapping in the low one-minute bracket and demonstrating the strong pace, maturity and race craft IQ that has seen her more than hold her own amongst a competitive field in this year’s championship.

The results were enough to secure an overall finish of third - an outstanding achievement in what was Cahoon’s first season competing at the English track. Her place on the championship podium is “a testament to the dedication, hard work and commitment shown by Ciara and the entire team throughout the season,” saidTeam Cahoon member, John Wilkinson.

“The team would like to extend its sincere thanks to the Aintree Motorcycle Racing Club, together with all the officials, medics and marshals, whose hard work ensured another safe and professionally run race meeting.

The encouragement received from family, friends, sponsors and supporters has been invaluable and has played a significant part in this year's success,” Mr Wilkinson said, as well as paying homage to the team’s many sponsors.

The podium finish brings the curtain down on a wonderfully successful 2026 for Cahoon – both at Aintree and in the Ulster Superbike (USBK) Championship, where she also won bronze earlier in the summer at Kirkistown Racetrack in County Down.

That finish was enough to earn Ciara promotion to the Supersport Pro class for the very first time - the premier middleweight tier in motorcycle road racing. The highlight of her season came at Aintree, however, when Ciara became the first female rider to ever record a Supersport victory at the Liverpool track, riding her Honda CBR to victory in the Supersport 600 class to win the Carloe Fairclough Memorial Trophy.
