Clogherinkoe 4 -14 Allenwood 1-9

Four Clogherinkoe goals, two in either half, were enough to secure the two points in a one sided Joe Mallon Motors Senior Football Championships Group B game played in Manguard Park Hawkfield on Sunday afternoon. The Cloghs led by five at the break and had extended it out to 14 before the final whistle.

An impressive Clogherinkoe performance saw Aedan Boyle, with two, Cein McMonagle and Mark Nolan all find the net.  Clogherinkoe started the first half the brightest and by the ninth minute they had the ball in the Allenwood net twice. Cein McMonagle setting up Aedan Boyle for the first and Boyle turned provider for the an unmarked Mark Nolan to push the Cloghs six ahead. Eanna O'Neill had opened the scoring for Allenwood before Aaron Dunne added a second.

Allenwood were given a lifeline on 17 when the evergreen John Doyle found Joey Cunningham and he shot low past Luke Anderson Cunningham and Jimmy Lynch swapped points but despite the loss of Mark Grehan to injury it was Clogherinkoe who finished the half with a Mark Nolan mark a Cein McMonagle free to leave it 2-6 to 1-4 after 30 minutes.

Clogherinkoe started the second half in the ascendancy and points from Aedan Boyle and a Jimmy Lynch free extended the lead to seven. John Doyle and Rory Moran kept Allenwood in touch but the respite was only temporary. Cein McMonagle added two frees but when Jimmy Lynch added his fifth point on 48 the result was inevitable.

The closing minutes saw Clogherinkoe put the icing on the cake with late goals from McMonagle and Aedan Boyle as Allenwood had no answer.
