A cyclist in his 60s was found with "life-threatening injuries" after a serious road traffic incident in Co Mayo on Friday, gardaí have said.

The incident occurred on the N17 in Co Mayo, on the road between the airport and Charlestown.

The man was found around 12:20pm and was brought by ambulance to hospital.

A technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and a stop/go system is in place on the road.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who were on the N17 between the airport and Charlestown between 11:45am and 12:20pm and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
