A DRIVER in Kildare has been charged after allegedly driving at 111km/h in an 80km/h zone while serving a three-year court disqualification for drink driving.
The incident was detected by the Naas Roads Policing Unit on the R402 at Carbury, Co Kildare.
According to An Garda Síochána, the driver was stopped after being recorded travelling at 111km/h in the 80km/h speed zone.
Further checks revealed the motorist was already serving a three-year court-imposed driving disqualification following a previous drink-driving conviction.
The driver was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with speeding and driving while disqualified.
In a social media post, the Naas Roads Policing Unit reminded motorists that a driving disqualification means a person is prohibited from driving, calling the incident “a masterclass in making a bad day worse.”
