Driver caught speeding on N7 in Kildare

A DRIVER who was caught travelling at 134km/h on the N7 at Kill has been issued a €160 Fixed Charge Penalty Notice and three penalty points after The detection was made by the Naas Roads Policing Unit during a speed enforcement operation carried out as part of Operation Lifesaver.
The speed limit on the N7 was 100km/h, meaning the motorist was travelling 34km/h above the legal limit.
Gardaí said a number of motorists were detected exceeding the 100km/h speed limit during the enforcement operation.
In highlighting the incident, Roads Policing officers reiterated the dangers associated with speeding and warned that excessive speed can significantly reduce a driver's reaction time and increase the severity of any collision.
“Speeding is not a victimless offence,” Gardaí said, stressing that the few minutes motorists may believe they are saving are never worth putting lives at risk.
Roads Policing Units are expected to continue targeting motorists who exceed speed limits as part of ongoing road-safety enforcement.
