A man was fined €250 at Carlow District Court for a public order offence after he was found intoxicated in a flowerbed near his parents’ home.

Myles Doran, 36, who was not present in court, had entered a guilty plea to a Section 4 public order offence relating to an incident on 29 July 2025 at the housing estate of Browneshill Wood, Carlow.

Solicitor Chris Hogan represented the defendant in his absence.

The court heard that Mr Doran, who resides at 2 Brownshill Rise, Brownshill Road, Carlow was found intoxicated outside his parents’ house.

When gardaí arrived and approached him, he hurriedly left the scene before being located a short distance away lying in a flowerbed, the court heard.

Garda Corcoran, the arresting officer, told the court that because it was a public place with children playing nearby and given the defendant’s intoxicated state, he was arrested for his own safety.

Judge Geraldine Carthy convicted Mr Doran and imposed a fine of €250 with 90 days to pay.
