Kildare County Council is seeking a new enforcement officer for its’ planning department.

The role is a newly created one and the deadline for applications is 4pm on Thursday 2 April.

€57,895 to €70,730 is detailed by the council as the salary scale for the role.

The council’s description of the position states that the role will involve contributing “to the achievement of proper planning and sustainable development in accordance with relevant legislation and associated regulations”. 

Duties will involve investigating unauthorised or non-compliant developments. 

The investigation of unauthorised developments would include tasks such as site inspections and examination of planning history.

Good knowledge of planning legislation and good knowledge of construction projects are listed amongst the desirable traits for candidates.

Director of services for planning, economic development, enterprise and tourism at the council Alan Dunney recently noted that the planning team in the council is a small one whilst praising how they worked “phenomenally hard” after the new Newbridge Settlement Plan was adopted in February.
