Families of Stardust victims take part in slow walk to Coroner's Court

Families of the victims of the Stardust fire took part in a slow walk outside the Coroner’s Court in Dublin on Saturday.

48 people were killed when a fire broke out at the Artane nightclub in Dublin 45 years ago.

Two years have passed since an inquest into the tragedy returned verdicts of unlawful killing.

The then Garda Commissioner Drew Harris announced a review, examining potential criminal charges, but campaigners say progress is far too slow.

Gertrude Barrett lost her son Michael in the fire, and said she feels, even after a State apology, that they have been abandoned.

"A battle was even mild. What you are up against. Every department, every government that came to power, all during the years, nothing ever changed," she said.

"The public apology from the State...the State is still failing and abandoning my son, Michael."
