Five year old pedestrian seriously injured in Co Donegal collision

A five-year-old boy has been seriously injured after being struck by a car on the R263 Kilcar to Killybegs road in southwest Donegal on Friday at around 5pm.
The boy was removed from the scene to Sligo University Hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported at the scene.
The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
The accident happened close to a popular local attraction known as the secret waterfall.
The road will remain closed overnight as a technical examination is due to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators on Saturday morning, February 22nd, a garda statement said.
"Travel from Killybegs to Kilcar along that route is not possible at present.
"Please take an alternative route if possible. The road closure is expected to remain in place overnight," a garda spokesperson said.
Local Link routes in the area have also been diverted.
Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
