High-speed broadband now available near Newbridge

Almost 3,600 premises in the Curragh Camp deployment area can join the NBI network

Almost 3,600 Kildare properties in the Curragh Camp deployment area can now avail of a high-speed fibre broadband connection. The area covers the rural surrounds of the Curragh Camp, Newbridge and Calverstown.

There are 15,000 premises in Co Kildare included in the State’s Intervention Area, which will see National Broadband Ireland (NBI) deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools. As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, Kildare will receive €53m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.

Almost 3,600 premises in the Curragh Camp deployment area can join the NBI network. People living near Newbridge can visit nbi.ie/map and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect.

Works have already been completed in other parts of Kildare and there are a total of 10,567 premises that can now pre-order or order high-speed, reliable broadband across the county with 2,777 connections made so far. Network build works are also underway in the Baltinglass deployment area near Moone, where almost 1,200 Kildare premises will be ready to connect to high-speed fibre at the end of this year between October and December.

“Overall, almost 10,600 homes, businesses and farms in Co Kildare can now order a high-speed fibre connection to the NBI network. This includes 1,500 premises near Athy in the Ballylinan deployment area, over 3,000 near Donadea and over 2,400 near Naas in the Blessington deployment area," said NBI CEO Peter Hendrick.
