Johnstown Centra to shut this week

THE ONLY shop in Johnstown, Kildare is set to close its doors this week.

Johnstown Centra owner and local resident, Alan Jordan, made many attempts to find an alternative location for the shop in an effort to expand to meet the needs of the growing population.

However, after a few failed attempts, it was ultimately decided that the store would shut its doors this Saturday, June 7.

Residents of the village will now have to travel to areas like Kill and Naas for the nearest shop. Some residents, particularly the elderly who rely on the shop for basic necessities, are very upset with the news.

This closure is part of a trend of closures and vacancies in the village over the last few years, and adds significantly to the lack of services available for its residents
