Kildare group rallies support at Dáil for biogas awareness

Ballyvass Bio Concern Group joined other groups from across the country at a trip to the Dáil
BALLYVASS Bio Concern Group joined forces with bio concern groups across the country to take a trip to the Dáil to meet with representatives and express worry about the various biomethane projects proposed in rural parts of the island.
The Ballyvass group explained the plant’s potential risks on the local communities, and were backed up by other biogas groups who have experienced those risks firsthand.
Ballyvass Bio Concern Group took to social media to express their gratitude for all the TDs and Senators who took the time to meet with them and hear their concerns, with a special thanks to Kildare representatives Mark Wall TD, Minister Martin Heydon TD, cllr Shónagh Ní Raghaillaigh and Sean O’Fearghaill TD.
The group wrote:” Many of our elected representatives told us they were surprised and concerned to hear about the real impact proposed biogas plants are having — and would have — on local communities.” The group, and others on the day, hope to raise public awareness about the risks associated with biomethane plants: “This was a vital step forward in raising national awareness about the lack of proper regulation and oversight.”
Finally, the group gave a huge thanks to everyone who made the trip to the Dáil to highlight their shared concern:
“Thank you to everyone who made the journey to Dublin to stand up for your communities. Your presence, your voice, and your solidarity are what made this action powerful.”
“Well done, everyone. Onwards together!”
