Kildare schools shine at regional Credit Union quiz final

THE regional final of the National Credit Union Quiz took place recently in Toughers, Naas. The Chapter 6 North Final was held on Sunday 8 March, and featured schools from Kildare, Wicklow and Laois.
Eight credit unions were represented, with one team competing in each of the two age categories: category A for underâ11s and category B for underâ13s. The participating credit unions were Life, Blessington, Kildare, Kilcock, Monasterevin, Portarlington, People’s First and Mountmellick.
In category A, first prize went to Scoil Oilibhéar representing Kilcock Credit Union, with team members Chloe Sheary, Eadha Nelson, Tom Clerkin and Darragh McCarthyism. Second place was awarded to Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa representing Blessington Credit Union, whose team included Molly Roddy, Ciara Mullaly, Mary Kate Behan and Saoire Burke.
Third place went to Emo National School representing Portarlington Credit Union, with team members Martin Kelly, Paidi Ryan, Dominic Milner and Conor Donnelly.
In category B, first place was claimed by Gaelscoil Portlaoise representing People’s First Credit Union, with team members Oran Ó Cuinn, Olibhéar Ó Treasaigh, Ruairí Ó Scolaíthe and Rian Ó Ciaráin. Second place went to Scoil Bhríde, Kill, representing Life Credit Union, whose team included Alice May, Michael Olive, Toby Massey and Cayden Jacob Arun. Third place was awarded to Scoil Cholmcille Naofa, Moone, representing Kildare Credit Union, with team members Tadhg Egan, Hugh Flynn, Zara Wilkinson and Michael Hennessy.
The six winning teams now go forward to the National Final of the Credit Union Schools Quiz, which will take place in the RDS on 19 April.
