TWO Transition Year (TY) students from Kildare are Solicitors of the Future after successfully completing the Law Society of Ireland’s innovative legal education programme.

Maja Chodup, Holy Family Secondary School, and Nuria Caldes Albiol, St Mary's College, were two of 40 TY students that attended the popular week-long Solicitors of the Future programme at the Law Society in Dublin from 17-20 February 2026.

Delivered by leading legal experts, the immersive, activity based programme featured practitioner led workshops, guest speakers, courtroom exercises, and a dedicated careers seminar. In total, students from ten counties participated.

Places on this year’s programme were allocated by lottery, with 20% reserved for students attending socio economically disadvantaged schools. It is designed for anyone interested in exploring a career in law.

Law Society President, Rosemarie Loftus, said: “This initiative encourages students to consider a career in law while providing a real insight into the work of practising solicitors. It is carefully designed to offer a holistic understanding of what a legal career involves, and the many different paths it can take.

The programme is one of the Law Society’s many Public Legal Education programmes, part of its strategic drive to widen early access to legal education.
