KILDARE County Council has revealed that both K Leisure Athy and Naas have been presented with the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group (PWTAG) accredited award.

The award marks a significant achievement for K Leisure, as it is only the second pool operator in Ireland to achieve this award and the only local authority facility to do so.

This prestigious award is regarded as the gold standard for swimming pool management, safety, hygiene and water quality.

Awarded by the PWTAG, the accreditation provides assurance to the public and operators, that a facility adheres to the highest standards of health and safety.

To achieve the PoolMark accreditation, swimming facilities must undergo a comprehensive assessment covering a range of areas.

These are water quality regarding chemical balances, filtration, and water turnover rates, facility hygiene and overall cleanliness, infection prevention and control, risk management and health & safety procedures, staff training and compliance with industry best practices.

PoolMark is a highly respected certification held by only a select few swimming facilities and is recognised throughout the industry as a mark of excellence in pool quality and operations.

Speaking at the presentation, the leas-chathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, cllr Tracey O’Dwyer said: "I would like to congratulate everyone involved in achieving this prestigious accreditation.

“It is a testament to the hard work and dedication demonstrated every day by the entire K Leisure team and reflects K Leisure's commitment to providing safe, high-quality facilities for our communities.

“Being the first local authority leisure facilities in Ireland to receive this accreditation is a significant achievement and one of which Co Kildare can be very proud."

Susan Grady, Chief Executive Officer, K Leisure added: “Achieving PoolMark Accreditation is a significant milestone for K Leisure and reflects our ongoing commitment to the highest standards of safety and hygiene."
