NAAS Lawn Tennis Club has applied to Kildare County Council to expand its facilities with the addition of three new tennis courts and upgraded lighting, submitted by applicant trustees of the club.

Plans include the construction of a full-size tennis court with an artificial grass surface on the lawn area in front of the clubhouses. The new court will feature perimeter fencing ranging from 0.9 metres to 2.5 metres in height, along with 10-metre-high lighting posts fitted with LED floodlights to allow for extended evening play.

In addition, two mini tennis courts will be developed on the existing lawn area to the west of court 6. These smaller courts will also use an artificial grass surface. Each mini court will be enclosed with 1.2-metre-high fencing and served by 6-metre-high LED lighting posts.

The tennis club already has 11 tennis courts surrounding the club and two smaller padel courts. The new courts would expand the club and offer the option of two smaller courts for practice.

Submissions for the application are due by 23 February with a decision due by 16 March.
