A MULLINGAR based firm that applied in April to build 115 homes in Co Kildare has been given permission to build 109 after revisions were required to reduce the number of apartments across the top floor of the apartment blocks.
The development estimated to be worth in the region of €65m, is on a 2.73Ha (6.8ac) site between Tea Lane and Church Road in Celbridge, and will be a mixed development of terraced, detached, semi-detached, and mews homes, alongside 78 apartments in two blocks that were to go to five storeys but trimmed by revisions.
The application had expected the green light in June, but this was pushed back to late September after further information was required.
Andrews Construction, a well-established family firm, want to incorporate the protected structure Celbridge Lodge and its gate lodge into the development.
Alongside this, they will construct 37 houses with up to four bedrooms, and a further 78 apartments in two interlocking blocks of up to five storeys, with a creche on the ground floor.
The development will include communal open space totalling 7,378sqm, and a 100 car parking spaces. A new vehicular access point to the new estate will be at the mid-point of Tea Lane and Church Road, while a further three routes will be solely available to cyclists and pedestrians.
There had been one early objection to the plan from a long-term resident of the town, suggesting this size of development is putting undue pressure on the already creaking infrastructure of the town.
