A MAN was found drunk on the street after attending a funeral of one of the young men killed on the M9, a court was told.
Francis Lynch (30), with an address at Castlepark, Athy, appeared in Athy District Court recently to plead guilty to being intoxicated in public.
“He was found drunk on Woodstock Street in the early hours of 29 August, and arrested for his own safety,” explained Inspector Seamus Houlihan.
“My client had been attending at the funeral of one of the young men killed in the M9 crash,” said defending solicitor Joe Coonan.
“He has had his problems with drink on and off for a while,” explained Mr Coonan.
Judge Desmond Zaidan fined Mr Walsh €250.
