Philly McMahon and Naas have parted company after just five months.
The Dublin GAA legend was appointed to his first managerial role last June in the hope of continuing Naas’ success within Kildare and to bring them to success outside the county as well.
Although McMahon delivered a Senior Football League Division 1 title soon into his tenure, Naas dreams of completing a five-in-a-row in Kildare were ended by a two point defeat to Athy.
McMahon confirmed his departure in a post on X, saying:
“Big thanks to @NaasGAA football team, mgmt, and everyone involved for their commitment. Personally I wanted to experience management , I’m grateful to have done so with such a dedicated and talented group. The season didn’t end as we hoped, it’s been a hugely rewarding experience.”

Naas were rocked mid-season by Joe Murphy’s departure to Carlow and they were without a permanent manager for two and a half months before McMahon’s appointment. They are now on the search once again for a new manager.
