The May temperature record, broken yesterday at 28.6 degrees, may be surpassed again today.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow high temperature warning for counties Clare, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Galway, Kilkenny, Laois, and Offaly.

The temperature warning for the eight counties will come into effect at noon on Tuesday and stay in place until 6pm on Wednesday.

The weather forecaster is predicting temperatures to rise as high as 30 degrees on Tuesday, with temperatures nationwide ranging from 23 to 29 or 30 degrees.

The hot conditions will continue tomorrow, with temperatures set to range from 22 to 29 or 30 degrees again.

Met Éireann said it will be hottest in the midwest and west.
