A MOTHER “terrified” of her ex because of abusive threats was granted an Interim Protection Order in a closed sitting of Athy District Court last week.

“He’s my ex-partner, the father of my child, and I’m terrified of him,” she said when Judge Desmond Zaidan enquired against whom she was seeking the Order.

“He came around the house and took the child, but started sending me abusive messages. We broke up six months ago, he’s been threatening to hurt me, and made some awful posts on social media saying I am a horrible mother, threatening to do something to my car, and says I’m not fit to be a mother,” she said.

“How’s your [toddler] girl?” asked the judge.

“Not a bother on her,” smiled the mam.

“I have him blocked on everything except the phone because of the child,” she explained.

“I will grant you an interim Protection Order, and adjourn a full hearing until 23 February. If you don’t want him around the house he’s trespassing, his name is not on the lease. Now, on your way home go into the Garda Station and show them this,” as the Registrar handed her the signed Order.
