New Athy bus to Allenwood

The bus service will commence this week

A new bus route between Athy and Allenwood will start on 3 June, run by TFI Local Link Kildare South Dublin.

This new route is part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan which is a major national public transport initiative developed and funded by the National Transport Authority (NTA) as part of the Transport for Ireland (TFI) Network.

Route 888 will operate five daily return services Monday to Saturday and three daily return services on Sunday.

The new route will offer a new public transport connection to Lullymore Heritage Park and will offer improved connectivity to the villages and areas of Rathstewart, Kilberry north and south, Kildangan, Monasterevin, Mountrice Cross, Tullylost Cross, Mullantine, Ard Mhuire, Rathangan, Newtown and Lullymore.

The new route will offer peak time and evening services and will also provide improved connectivity to regional bus services, as wells as to Athy and Monasterevin Train Stations.

Speaking ahead of the launch, TFI Local Link Kildare South Dublin General Manager Alan Kerry, said:

“The launch of Route 888 marks another important milestone in the ongoing development of the TFI Local Link network in Kildare as part of the Connecting Ireland Rural Mobility Plan. “Developed in collaboration with key partners, this new service offers a practical and sustainable alternative to private car use, improving access to employment, education, leisure, and tourism.
