THERE was an extraordinary turnout at St Conleth’s Community College for their open evening.
There was a queue when the doors opened at 5.30pm on Thursday 25 September and families kept coming in their droves over its two-hour duration.

Current students and teachers were on hand to talk about various subjects and give invaluable insight for sixth-class students, while students acted as guides on the evening.
Principal Patricia O’Brien said: “We are well linked in with local primary schools, and have a strong transition program through Stepping Stones.”
The school offers a host of subjects for students to pursue.

From its vocational school roots, construction and engineering are strong in the school.
The alluring smell of baking from the home economics can be found during the day, while the talents of the art students can be seen throughout the school.
In addition to academics, there is a varied mix of extracurricular activities.
The school is well known for its basketball talents, along with soccer and GAA.

“The sports hall is busy all the time!” said Ms O’Brien.
The school’s talented students also get to display their talents on stage with the school to host ‘All Shook Up’ this November.
The school currently has around 750 students, but there are plans to expand it to a 1,000-pupil school with a new building currently in the planning stage.

Enrolments opened on 1 October and can be submitted until 22 October. For more information, contact the school at (045) 431 417.
