KILDARE County Council says it has not received complaints about the new Cedral St Conleth’s Park despite a claim that locals have grievances.

The council added it does not have “capacity” to carry out an inspection to confirm works involved in the €17.5 million redevelopment of county grounds was completed in compliance with planning permission “where no formal unauthorised development has been received by the Planning Authority”.

A report by Kildare County Council (KCC) stated that a “detailed site inspection” would need to be carried out to confirm that the works were completed in accordance with the planning.

The report was issued by Ger Maher, Senior Executive Officer of the planning department in the council, after cllr Tom McDonnell questioned the council executive on the matter at the most recent sitting of Kildare Newbridge Municipal District.

Cllr McDonnell indicated that residents had complaints but that he would gather them together in a formal manner.

The home of Kildare GAA is located off the main street in Newbridge in an area that is both residential and commercial.

The stadium was reopened in October of last year after the refurbishment began 18 months previously in March 2023.

A new 3,000-seater stand was constructed, with the stadium’s overall capacity now being around 15,000.

New dressing rooms were installed as well as state of the art floodlights, whilst the pitch was relayed and widened.
