Round Towers are through to the quarter final of the Auld Shebeen Athy IFC after they overcame a Castledermot side whose interest in this year's competition came to an end.
Towers had three points to spare and they could be forgiven for taking their foot off the pedal with their path to the quarter final assured before throw in.
A goal and a point inside the opening two minutes from Jason O'Brien set Towers on their way and when his son Jay tagged on two of his own Towers were five ahead. Two Gavin Keating frees and a fine Conor Nolan effort kept Castledermot in touching distance Max Cosgrave and Evan Flynn pointed for Towers in response to another Gavin Keating point to lead 1-5 to 0-4 at the break.
The second half was a slow burner as Towers emptied the subs bench.Neil Scanlon gave brother Mark a gentle as to his ability with three second half points.
The Keatings, Gavin and David, kept Castledermot in touch but they couldn't get the goal that would have brought them back into the game.
Towers saw out the three point win test earns them a knockout game against the winners of Rathangan and Suncroft.
