IT was an momentous day for locals of Naas and surrounding areas with the official opening of Kerdiffstown Park recently.
This exciting project transformed the former Kerdiffstown Landfill into a 30-hectare multi-use public park.
Cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council Kevin Duffy said: “The opening of Kerdiffstown Park represents a new chapter for our community, providing a beautiful and accessible space for recreation and relaxation, while promoting environmental care."
Minister of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD said: “The Kerdiffstown story is one of transformation but it is also a story of community resilience. It is a shining example of what can be achieved when communities, local authorities and government agencies work together.
Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and the Marine, Martin Heydon said: “The repurposing of the once heavily polluted landfill site into a modern multi-use facility is most welcome. It is evidence of what we can achieve when the local authority and government work together towards a common goal."
The project used the latest land management practices and sustainable construction techniques.

Kerdiffstown Park boasts an array of amenities, including two full-size all-weather sports pitches, three five-a-side pitches, several walking trails, ecological areas, vast open green space, a playground and age friendly seating.
