St Laurence’s Gaa welcomed St Marys Rochfortbridge to Old Grange for a senior football challenge game on a day of celebration to remember the late club member JJ Walsh.

While known in Kildare as a passionate St Laurence’s player and official, John Joe also had a great affinity for Rochfortbridge as he had played for the Westmeath club in his younger days.

A large crowd from Kildare and beyond gathered to remember JJ and acknowledge his legacy as a true Gael. The club U10s and U11s teams participated in a half time mini games to recognise the brilliant work John Joe did in his latter years as a coach in the local primary schools and as an underage official and coach over many years.

The Walsh family accepted presentations from the captains of both St Laurence’s and St Marys Rochfortbridge, as well as from the ‘Larries On The Move’ organisation, of which JJ was a proud member.
