Road closure details

KILDARE County Council has announced its intention to close a road in Spratstown on the Wicklow border for two weeks in January to facilitate the installation of an agricultural underpass.

This will be done on behalf of Drumderry Precast on a stretch of road (L8033) parallel to the Greise River, between Moyleabbey Organic Farm and the Kileen Cormac Museum in Colbinstown.

The road will be closed from 8am on Monday 13 January until 6pm on Saturday 25 January.

Eastbound traffic will be diverted north along the R448 (the old Naas-Carlow road) for approximately a kilometre, before turning right onto the L8032, which facilitate access with the junction of the closed L8O33.

The members of Athy Municipal District approved this at their last meeting, and it was published in last week’s paper, giving people until just 9 December to make submissions or objections.
