A scheme aimed at making it easier for people to build their own home is set to be reinstated, with seven serviced sites available for sale at Clogherinkoe in the north-west of the county.

Fine Gael councillors William Durkan and Ivan Keatley brought forward a motion at the most recent full meeting of Kildare County Council calling on the council to begin readvertising the pilot Serviced Sites Scheme (also known nationally as the Ready to Build Scheme) later this year with a view to restarting and progressing the scheme ‘as a matter of urgency’.

Director of services Annette Aspell issued the council’s response, which stated that sites at Clogherinkoe were going out for advertisement at the end of July and applications will be open for three weeks from 12 August. Further information is available on the council’s website.
