Many violent crimes, including sexual offences, attempted murders, and shootings, have increased, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

Figures from the CSO show a 17 per cent increase in sexual offences in the second quarter of 2025, from 3,304 to 3,881.

Public Order & thoer social code offences saw a six per cent increase, while there was a four per cent increase in attempts and threats to murder, assaults, harassments & related offences.

There was also a four per cent increase in weapons and expolsive offences.

The biggest decrease in crime was seen in homicide and related offences, with a 42 per cent drop.

There was a 16 per cent decrease in kidnapping and related offences, with a 14 per cent decrease in robbery, extortion and hijacking offences.

Robbery, extortion and hijacking offences were down by 20 per cent in the south of the country, with a 16 per cent drop in the East.

Burglary & Related offences was down by seven per cent, with a six per cent drop in fraud, deception & related offences.

Offences against Government, justice procedures and organisation of Crime were also down by six per cent.
