Sheridan to serve one game ban after appeal against red card was rejected
Jack Sheridan will miss next Sunday's Division 1B game against Carlow through suspension
For the second time in two weeks, one of Kildare’s star forwards has had an appeal against a red card rejected.
This time it is Jack Sheridan of the hurling team - following in the footsteps of his Naas club mate, footballer Alex Beirne.
Sheridan was dismissed late in the first half during last Sunday’s crucial Allianz Hurling League Division 1B clash against Down.
As was the case with Beirne’s appeal, video evidence seemed to support the Kildare viewpoint that Sheridan had done little wrong but the Central Hearings Committee found that the infraction against him was proven.
Kildare were 11 points ahead at the time of Sheridan’s sending off and went on to win the game 3-24 to 1-23 to secure a crucial victory in their battle to avoid relegation.
The win leaves them in a strong position in the league table, though not yet mathematically safe, and Sheridan is now set to be suspended for Sunday’s game potentially pivotal clash against relegation rivals Carlow.
