A woman who allegedly hit a garda sergeant with her car will have to return to court in the New Year to have her case finally heard.

Lisa Owens (25) with an address at Moate View, Kilmead, Athy was in her local District Court charged with dangerous driving on the new Athy bypass on 21 February.

“She hit a garda sergeant on duty,” explained Sergeant Dave Hanrahan for the State.

“He was enforcing a Council order to remove a caravan, she was signalled to stop and failed to do so,” he added.

Judge Desmond Zaidan noted the injuries in the photos handed in, but told Sgt Hanrahan that he would need a formal medical report to proceed.

He marked the proceedings as pre-emptory against the accused, meaning she is not allowed seek any more adjournments, and remanded her on continuing bail until 25 March.
