Woman 'overlooks' NCT at Kildare court

A woman who “overlooked” renewing her NCT was fined €400, but managed to keep her licence at Athy District Court last week. Marvis Okungbowa (52) with an address on Amiens Street, Dublin 1 was before Judge Desmond Zaidan to plead guilty to driving without an NCT and failing to heed a ‘stop’ sign at Ballygoran, Maynooth on 23 April, 2023.
"The garda had to take evasive action. When he stopped her he discovered the vehicle did not have a valid NCT,” explained Sergeant Dave Hanrahan.
“There was no NCT,” solicitor Cairbre Finan conceded. “But she got it sorted two months later."
“Why didn’t you pay for it?” asked the judge.
“Overlooked it,” said Ms Okungbowa.
“You know I could take your licence away, but I won’t because of what your lawyer said".
