Parsons scores hat-trick as U17s beaten in ten-goal game
Jayden Parsons scored a second-half hat-trick against Longford Town but it wasn't enough to fire Klub Kildare to victory
Geordan Lambert’s under 17 team travelled to Longford Town on Sunday with a depleted squad. Down seven players between holidays and having to field players for the Under 20 team due to them also playing on Sunday.
Some of the Under 15s stepped up against Longford Town and although they played well, the gap in physicality showed as Longford defeated Klub Kildare 6-4 in Bishopsgate.
On a beautiful morning the goals rained in as both teams struggled defensively.
Longford raced into the lead after 25 minutes when Reece Beasley raced into the lead quickly followed by a second goal after 36 minutes. Klub Kildare replied with Zain Alli scoring within a minute of the kick off.
Any hope of a comeback by Klub Kildare evaporated when Longord scored a third goal after 40 minutes to leave Longord leading 3-1 at half-time.
Despite a hat-trick by Jayden Parsons in the second-half the Kildare defence were not able to contain the Longford attack as they scored a further three gaols.
Although disappointed after the game Manager Geordan Lambert was looking at the bright side.
“The young players who stepped up battled well but we will have most of our team back for next Sunday and hope to be in a better condition when we take on Drogheda away from home,” he said after the game.
Klub Kildare MU14’s travelled to Claremorris, to take on Mayo in their third league game of the second phase of thier League of Ireland campaign. The group are in good form after a dominant 5-2 win against Athlone Town in FBD Park, Tuesday previous.
Despite the long journey, Klub Kildare came out of the traps from the word go. After just eight minutes Kildare opened the scoring through talisman Luigi Valente, the number nine didn’t hang about and added two more goals, bringing him to a first third Hatrick within 10 minutes of kick off. New signing Mikuss Simons got on the scoresheet to make it 4-0 after 30 minutes.
Mayo didn’t back down and came out with real intent at the start of the middle third, a back four of Adam Walsh, Rhys Land, Zac Clarke, and Jack Birchall managed to keep their clean sheet by working tirelessly to defend their goal, supported by some fine saves from goalkeeper Filip Majdak.
The final third, saw Klub Kildare get back to their best with a Calvin Kelly-Smyth Hatrick and a Jake Norman goal, seeing the away side jump to 8-0. Some key performances in midfield by Rory McCarrick and Daniel Dalton combined hard work off the ball with some fine technical ability.
Klub Kildare finished the game with two 2013 born players on the pitch, Darragh Walsh and James Dooley, showing a bright future for the club.
Klub Kildare MU14 welcome Drogheda to FBD Park next week, where they will hope to continue their fine form.
