ELECTED members of Kildare County Council appointed Maynooth councillor Tim Durkan and Kildare-Newbridge councillor Tracey O’Dwyer as cathaoirleach and leas-cathaoirleach respectively, at the annual meeting of the county council which took place in the Aras Chill Dara on Friday, 26 June.

The new appointees will succeed the outgoing cathaoirleach and leas-cathaoirleach cllr Carmel Kelly and cllr Veralouise Behan, following their 12-month term in a straight swop from Fianna Fáil to Fine Gael.

Cllr Tim Durkan and Cllr Tracey O’Dwyer were presented with the chain of office at the meeting and will serve as Cathaoirleach and Leas-Chathaoirleach for one year, effective immediately from Friday.
